Here are three sputum test, testing was done because of suspected mould exposure. All of the parties tested had or suspected mould exposure. Two of the test were taken as part of the mould inspection these were post hurricane. The third was a test subject who had previously taken a sputum test and had a baseline sample. Please review the reports and you will see that suptum testing for mould exposure is a good idea. Here are some links to sputum test that have been done by other groups. |

History and Development of Easygel® Technical information on the Easygel® Why the Easygel® is necessary for this test. |
|
| Getting mould to grow is easy any moist material will grow mould. There are so many moulds in our environment that where there is a water source there are many moulds competing for the wet real estate. Therefore when a sample of anything is taken and cultured it is rare that there is one mould. Usually in any mould sample of any type you will find 2-5 moulds. The challenge is to grow all the moulds in the sample. As all plants do not grow in one soil all moulds do not grow in one media. You must use different foods to grow a broad spectrum of moulds. The second challenge is to grow the moulds in a media that promotes the growth of moulds in a well defined colony so that a pure sample of the mould may be obtained for identification. Easygel® multimedia 4 formula mould test overcomes the challenge growing moulds. Single plate petri dish culturing methods for moulds is an outdated 150 year old process and does not work well. | ||

Below is the microscope and camera that allow
us to photograph the moulds grown in your sputum or nasal lavage
samples. The photographs are of various moulds. Some of these
moulds are very easy to identify others require laboratory analysis.![]() |
