If occupants are complaining of any symptoms of mould exposure viable testing is required and the samples must be taken in the immediate area where occupant spends the most time. Sputum testing is acceptable as air samples. All samples viable and non viable should be color photographed at microscopic magnification of 1000X and will be included in your report.

Air testing using a bioaersol cassette. Air volume sampled 150 liters = 5.29 cu ft or 45 gallons, generally less than 1 % of the air volume of a small room. Good for spore count and generalization of mould types. If vaible air sampling is done by any method types of moulds may vary greatly. The bioaersol cassette is not very accurate and should never be the only type of sampling done in a mould survey, inspection or investigation. |

Step 2 Moisture Meter, Dust and Surface Survey Moisture readings should be taken throughout the subject property. Any suspected mould growth should be photographed and a tape lift and viable sample taken. Tape lift samples will be taken throughout the subject property and be photo documented using color photography at microscopic magnification of 1000X. |

RICHARD J. CARDO Graduate of FMI. Currently participating in advanced studies assisting with research and data compulation. Mr. Cardo is using the MOULDIS System to photograph a tape lift sample procured in a mould inspection. The photograph will be identified using the MOULDIS system or e mailed to an accredited laboratory or a Ph.D for identification. He also has control of the tape lift sample, so he can archive the sample under chain of custody, for further use should he be called upon as an expert witness. The MOULDIS System using image analysis technologies common to the scientific and medical communities.
| The on site capabilities of MOULDIS allows me to archive samples should the client require further documentation in the claims process. | ||

To see the photos of the 5 tape lifts of mould growth and see that you can identify some moulds without a laboratory click here. This is the best way to verify mould colonies on any surface. The preliminary work can be done on site or the tape lifts taken to our office for photographing. Tape lifts may then be grown for better identification.

Live Mold Viable air testing. The type of live air test will be determined at the time of inspection. No matter how the sample is procurred the important step is to cultivate the sample in Easygel® multimedia for broad spectrum growth to get all the moulds in the sample. Simply measure the distance ceiling to floor and the surface of the collector and you will have the cubic feet measurement of the settling. Mechanical non-viable air grab samplers test a 5.29 cubic foot or less per sample. Our live mold spore trapping methods allow the sampling of 150 cubic feet or more. If you are concerned with fungal aeroallergens, asthma and allergies this method should be considered. |
